BR, I watched an episode Extreme Home Makeover that addressed this very thing. The parents had lost a daughter to texting and driving and were going around to high schools with her wrecked truck to spread the message. They (whoever 'they' are) say that texting while driving is more dangerous than being drunk while driving.
This is the VERY reason I pay much more attention to oncoming traffic now than I used to. I look for erratic vehicle movement and if I can see the oncoming driver's hands. I don't wanna go out due to someone else's stupidity. My own stupidity is good enough... but we're not talking about texting here.
