Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. Work has kept me busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest, and with a stint of good weather I've been honing my riding skills. Coupled with a general lack of fodder, I've been a bit absent. My apologies.
This past weekend our zone of the Washington State Horsemen hosted a two day gaming event. Good fun, and met many new people from around the state.
DN2 assembled this video compilation of my Saturday rides, and set it to one of my favorite songs.
Not every run was textbook, but as you can see, I remained in the saddle. Smokey ran his heart out, and I could not be happier with his performance.

woo-HOO! Awesome riding, B.R.!
Looks like fun!
Love it!! I had to show Steve and explain that some of your descriptions of Smokey sound so much like Lena, it's spooky.
Nice runs, and the best part is you both look like you were having fun.
Gives Steve some ideas for Lena challenges, too. I particularly like the flag (or stick?) pick up and re-delivery. That will be fun to try with both horses.
Thanks for all your comments on my posts, too. I'm sure the rants will continue despite my best efforts. :)
You both did great, what fun!
FANTASTIC-O! Smokey is a beautiful beast!
I'd like to know the title of that song- could it be "People Are Crazy", who sings it? Yes, I know I ask a lot of questions, but I am not familiar with country music and I like it.
That was great fun. Your daughter did an excellent job of putting together the video.
Dave, that was fan-dang-tastic!
You look like a real cowboy up there on ol' Smokey.
And, I love that song myself. I don't listen to much country music lately...but I heard that one a couple of months back, and it put a big old grin on my ugly mug.
Your daughter picked a good one, because I grinned through the whole video...
You're a blessed man, Mr. BR!
Christina, Kate, RunsWithHorses, Lou, & Andy: Thanks, it was a good time!
Jessica: Those two events are Flags and 2 Man 3 Barrel. Smokey does not like flags one bit, but after two solid weeks of work, you witnessed the result. I recommend ground work with the flags first.
Laura: That is "People Are Crazy" by Billy Currington.
This is just about the coolest thing I've seen today. Srsly.
Smokey is beautiful. I don't know horses from elephants, but I know beauty when I see it. I liked the song, as well. First time I've heard it.
Now I think I'll go have me a beer. But I ain't leavin' my fortune to ya. You're prolly a hundredaire already.
Glad you liked it, Buck. He is a good looking horse, isn't he? Hope the beer was good. As to be a hundredaire...depends how close it's getting to payday. I own hayburners, after all.
